Asher and Willis return to 470 Worlds

The predicted 10 - 15 knots didn't arrive for the start of racing on day 5 of the 470 World Championships, but it did kick in at just as the Women's silver fleet came ashore at the end of racing. Britain's Nic Asher and Elliot Willis were back racing, with redress for the missed races due to the collision. A ninth and a fifth put them in third place overall.
On the gold fleet course it was flat water and light shifty breezes which reached a maximum of 7 knots. In the men's fleet Alvaro Marinho and Miguel Nunes from Portugal lead from Gideon Kliger and Udi Gal of Israel, with Asher and Willis third overall.
In the Women's event their were several general recalls and then the black flag - after this the sailors settled down and this fleet managed to get two races in relatively settled winds.
Erin Maxwell and Isabelle Kinsolving from the USA had a good day and now lead from Giulia Conti and Giovanna Micol of Italy with Marcelien de Koning and Lobke Berkhout of the Netherlands, in third after 12 races.
Britain's Christina Bassadone and Saskia Clark are in ninth place.
