Ainslie takes lead at Finn Gold Cup

Ben Ainslie has taken the lead at the Finn Gold Cup in Australia after eight races completed. Dan Slater of New Zealand is one point behind and Pieter Jan Postma of the Netherlands moves into third place.

Ainslie has taken the clear lead for the first time in the championship. He finished one place ahead of Slater in race eight, to take the overall lead with 35 points, Slater is on 36 and Postma 43 points.

Winner today was Daniel Birgmark (SWE) with Guillaume Florent (FRA) second and Tim Goodbody ((IRL) third.

Britain's Giles Scott continues to lead the Junior series, only finishing in 36th in race eight, he discards it to be in 14th place overall.

Ed Wright in eighth place is the second best placed Brit sailor, then Scott at 14th and then Ed Grieg at 19th and Mark Andrews at 25th.

There is one more series race and then the top ten will compete in the final Medal race.
