Hayden Virtue (AUS) continues to lead IC Worlds

Big waves but little wind for heat six of the International Canoe Worlds taking place in Australia. A northerly which blew all night had picked up a decent swell, and though the wind had eased the waves had not. Launching was tricky for some but all competitors got off the shore, and heat 6 was underway.

Hayden Virtue (AUS) did well off of the start and led the fleet out to the left side of course and was never passed. Seth Dunbar (AUS) trailed him but couldn'tget passed. US sailor Bill Beaver came home third. With three heats sceduled for tomorrow Hayden is in the box seat but Bill still has a chance.

In the DC's Chris Maas (USA) has a 4 point buffer over Steve Clark who has 3 points over Oliver Moore. Alistair Warren is in fourth, breaking up the all US affair.

AC's have been dominated by John Robson (GBR), but 2nd place is still up for grabs with Tobias and Peter seperated by 1 point.

The Australians have officially issued a challenge for the 'International Challenge Cup' (the second oldest trophy is sailing, to the Americas Cup) and the definding nation Great Britain has accepted the challenge.

Racing will occur on the 7 January 2008 off the waters of McCrae on Port Phillip Bay. 3 Australian boats will go head to head in a best of three series with three British boats, with only the first nations boat across the finish line counting, to see who will hold the Cup until Germany in 2011.
