Joyon slows - still 3360 miles ahead of MacArthur

Francis Joyon's trimaran IDEC is this morning sailing abeam of Uruguay, well out in the Atlantic.

Yesterday the Frenchman sailed for much of the day in very light winds of less than 10 knots but last night his speed picked up again.

He is still 3360 nautical miles ahead of Dame Ellen MacArthur during her record breaking round the world passage and has only around 5400 miles to go.

As he approaches the anticyclone ahead his speeds have continued to drop, as the data below shows.
