G.C Marine Late Autumn Series ends on a high note

The first winter series organised jointly by Liverpool Yacht and Pwllheli Sailing Clubs was completed on Sunday 30 December in fine racing conditions with eight boats on the water.

Races 5 and 6 saw great competitive racing in a steady west wind.

In Class 1 of the day’s first race the Williams Partington owned Corby 25 Wil2Win took line honours brilliantly tracking Dinamite Tee the Prima 38 of Glynn Sheffield to within 4 minutes. On corrected time Paddy Atkinson’s Sunfast 321 achieved second place with Dennis Williams Gwawr third in front of Dinamite-Tee.

The second Class 1 Race was again won by Wil2Win, Molissa gaining second place from Dinamite –Tee and Gwawr. A very competitive race this with only eight and a half minutes between all yachts.

The first race in Class 2 saw Mike Inman’s Sigma 33 Musketeer romping home from the Andy Napper/Annie Ward owned G.K 24 Di-Rich and the Contention 30, Poppy owned by John Roberts: however the second race result was turned over by Di-Rich beating Musketeer by eight seconds on corrected time, despite sailing above her handicap of 0.847 at 0.871 to qualify for class 2 status ! Well done Andy, Annie and crew.

Jack Hilton’s SS C32 She –Fever was the only class 3 boat to race and gained results by finishing her courses. This was Jack’s first competitive series and he is to be commended for his efforts.

Race Control was joined this week by LYC club Vice-President Alan Dickinson and Mary. Always the maverick Alan suggested the running start for the second race and of course it worked!!

The Overall Series results are as follows:

Class 1
1. Wil2Win
2. Molissa
3. Another Nods

Class 2
1. Musketeer
2. Poppy
3. Di-Rich

Class 3
1. She-Fever
