2008 New Zealand Olympic representatives, Tom Ashley and Barbara Kendall have scored convincing wins in the 2007 RSX NZ National Championships sailed off Takapuna Beach.

Although both only won by narrow points margins, they dominated the final two days of racing, with Ashley scoring four wins and Kendall five in the nine and eight race series.

48 competitors from 16 countries contested the Mens event. In second overall was the very consistent Julien Bontemps (FRA) who finished just two points behind Ashley, with Casper Bouman (NED), in third, six points behind Ashley.

In the womens event, Kendall recovered from a poor first day to clock two more wins, today, giving her five wins from eight races. Even so, she was only a single point ahead of the very consistent Alessandra Sensini (ITA) who never finished worse than fourth in the eight race series. Joining Kendall and Sensini on the podium was Romy Kinzi (GER), who was 11 points behind Kendall. 35 sailors from 15 countries contested the Women's event.

All races today were sailed in a a building sea breeze which peaked at around 15 knots. Yesterday's overcast conditions gave way to brilliant sunshine and blue skies, making for very pleasant racing conditions off Takapuna Beach.

In three weeks time, the RSX World Championships for Men and Women will get underway at the same venue, and this weeks racing was the final regatta before the World series.
