Sail-World.com : EPIRB's save lives – get one now

EPIRB's save lives – get one now

Just last month, many people were rescued in yachting incidents, all of them saved by their use of an EPIRB, including a man who was rescued off the Northern Territory coast - he activated his PLB at 6.50pm, as his yacht started sinking and was rescued by a diverted nearby vessel.

A couple was also rescued from their holed yacht off the Queensland coast after activating their EPIRB.

You think it couldn’t happen to you?
As everyone prepares for the Southport Race, it is time to consider safety equipment for the compulsory requirements.

You must have a 406 EPIRB for instance, but how many sailors are considering a PLB? Both are available for hire if the purchase price is too high.

It is only two years since a PLB saved the lives of two on board a racing yacht, on its way home from competing in The Whitsunday's. Tragically, not all of the crew survived.
Have you thought about having PLB’s for the crew on board?

Usually it is only the bad news story that makes it to the media, but there are many cases where rescue is straightforward and over so quickly, that you won't hear about it.

Yacht owners and sailors who go to sea only once or twice a year can hire EPIRB’s, PLB’s, wet weather gear, handheld VHF radios and GPS units, from Sydney based EPIRBhire.com.au, run by Peter and Caroline Davidson.

FREE PLB HIRE WITH WET WEATHER GEAR FOR SOUTHPORT AND POINTS NORTH.

Remember how cold the trip north was last year?

When you hire Wet Weather Gear from EPIRBhire.com.au for the trip north, you will receive free PLB hire (it will increase the chances of us getting the gear back if you go over board!).

EPIRBhire has Jeantex gear as used by the successful 2003 Admirals Cup Team.

Although PLB’s are not compulsory for Cat 2 racing, that doesn’t mean you won’t need one.
EPIRB’s and PLB’s save lives.

You may be doing a delivery trip there or back, usually with a skeleton crew and working to a tight schedule. That is why EPIRBhire includes the delivery trip in the hire price.

A quick phone call and the cost of a few jugs is all it takes, Epirbhire.com.au will deliver Australia wide, within 24 hrs if necessary.
