Sail Port Stephens. The Pantaenius sponsored NSW IRC championships and Performance Cruising and Racing classes have sailed in strong conditions over the first three days of Sail Port Stephens, now sailors and families switch to Cruising mode in the Port Stephens Trophy and Pantaenius Commodore’s Cup cruising series will be back tomorrow for the second half of the annual regatta.

In conjunction with the launch of the revitalised Abell Point Marina brand, the marina has announced it will throw support behind the Abell Point Yacht Club (APYC) as part of the vision to create a destination marina.
With the multi-million dollar redevelopment well progressed and due to be complete before the start of this year cruising season, Owner of Abell Point Marina Paul Darrouzet said ‘Most marinas around the world have a yacht club which attracts people to visit and provides the opportunity to run sailing and cruising events’. Mr Darrouzet will assist APYC in delivering its 2014 event calendar and strengthening participation in on and off water events out of Abell Point Marina.

Congressional Cup 2014 - Taylor Canfield of the U.S. Virgin Islands beat Ian Williams of the United Kingdom Saturday in the 18th and last race of the Stage Two of the 50th Congressional Cup (know locally and affectionately as the Congo Cup) double round-robin, and the world's No. one-ranked match racer beat No. two by 23 seconds, winning the privilege of picking his opponent in Sunday's semifinals.

Canfield has picked Australia's Keith Swinton, who reached the final four with a harder earned tiebreaker against defending champion Simone Ferrarese of Italy and France's Mathieu Richard, the 2007 winner, each with 10-8 records. Francesco Bruni of Italy, the 2010 winner, clinched the other spot with a solid 12-6 record. Go Keith!!
Coming up soon is the sixth and final ISAF Sailing World Cup regatta in Hyeres on the French Riviera. Sail-World will be there watching the Australian Olympic campaigners, hopefully on fire.
