The ISAF Sailing World Cup Mallorca – Trofeo Princesa Sofia will start this weekend, with an amazing 882 sailors from 55 nations competing that is twice the size of an Olympic sailing fleet. The Sail-World team will arrive in Palma on Friday.

The fourth of five ISAF Sailing World Cup regattas will see the world's top competitor's race across one Paralympic and ten Olympic events.

One hundred and sixty Lasers have registered to sail in Mallorca, making it the biggest fleet.

In the 2013 edition, New Zealand's Andy Maloney came from behind on the final day to claim gold ahead of Tom Burton (AUS).

World number one Tonci Stipanovic (CRO) and world number two Tom Burton (AUS), took top honours at ISAF Sailing World Qingdao, Melbourne and Miami.

Belcher and Ryan are back in Mallorca to defend their 2013 title and get back to winning ways. They will be joined by world number four Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic (CRO) and world number five Luke Patience (GBR) who is joined by new crew Elliot Willis.

Behind Tweddell, the ever growing Jake¨Lilley now 6 foot 6 at age 20 will be keen to do well again.

The Nacra 17 class will have a 70+ fleet. Silver medallist Darren Bundock and Nina Curtis now the leading Aussie campaigners, if they do well in this regatta, they could burn off their competitors.

Extreme Learning- In Act 2 of the Extreme Sailing Series in Muscat, Oman the young all Australian GAC Pindar crew continued their education, again took the tail gunner placing, though they posting some solid results including a second, two third, two fourth places and two fifth place finishes.

Having started the Act slowly, results steadily improved for the team over the course of the four days. They equalled their best Series finish of third on day three, before registering an excellent second place finish on the final day to give them real confidence for future regattas.

Jarvin believes that a first win would be the springboard to more success for the team ‘It is a big learning curve but we are getting there. It is a very tough fleet and we expected we would be in the deep end a little bit and now we are improving.

'The racing is totally different to what we have ever done before. This is sprint racing and starting is pretty crucial. If you don’t get off the start line well, it’s all over and we haven’t been starting that great in this regatta. But overall it’s getting better.

The Sail-World team has been battling a problem with its newsletter sending system for the last two weeks. Today we found the bug in the new version of our mail server software and squashed it.
