The drama continues in the Vendee Globe, Spain's Javier Sanso, some 500 miles west of the Maderia's EPIRBS distress beacon alarms were triggered. An aerial reconnaissance some five hours later found him in his liferaft. Up ahead the one time British fireman Mike Golding looks like he will take fifth place ahead of France's Le Cam but the two boats are widely separated so anything could happen in the final sea-miles. The Mediterranean was the TP52’s playground, now the action is shifting to the Australian east coast with the launch of a new three-part class series, the Australian TP52 Southern Cross Cup Regatta, which will commence this weekend on Port Phillip, Victoria. From Friday 8th to Sunday 10th February, eight TP52 owners from Tasmania to as far away as Hong Kong will come together for the first series skirmish off Sandringham Yacht Club. A full preview of the inaugural regatta will be available later today on Sail-World.com In America's Cup action, both Oracle Team USA and Emirates Team NZ have confirmed that they will launch AC72's on Monday February 4, 2013. Emirates Team NZ's will be first in the water with their second AC72 catamaran, in Auckland, New Zealand, followed about 20 hours later by Oracle Team USA, who will be re-launching their first AC-72 in San Francisco. As you'd expect Sail-World will cover these two launches in detail. 18 footers Australian Championship race five on Sunday and there were surprises on Sydney Harbour. Coopers-Rag & Famish Hotel took out Race five of the Australian 18ft Skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour today, but the runner up Gotta Love It 7 became the 2012-2013 National champion in the series.

David Gilmour son of World Match Racing icon Peter Gilmour ,now ranked 25th in the world claimed his first Warren Jones title. John Curnow continues his reports from Melbourne Club Marine series, while up north the CYCA's Ocean Point score is close to conclusion.
