Been a fun month and today we feature footage from the Bangin’ the Corners Moth event, with a bunch of Olympics Gold Medallists and World Champions - fun video from Beau Outteridge, with Randy Cunningham’s one man Roy and HG style commentary. Lots of news from Festival of Sails 2013, with the Audi IRC Australian Championship to be run and won over four days of racing, from Thursday 24 until Sunday 27 January, the racing is set to be tight across the fleets. But the Festival of Sail operates on a whole range of levels, with 100,000 spectators, its more like the Sydney Easter Show crossed with a sailing regatta. The stories across the classes will be rich and varied and Sail-World will be reporting in detail. In news that went around the world, 63 year old French sailor Alain Delord set off a distress beacon on Friday after his 11-metre yacht Tchouk Tchouk Nougat was dismasted and then holed in heavy weather, 500 nautical miles south west of Tasmania'. The 63 year old took to his life raft, not a good look in the cold cold southern ocean. The Australian based MV Orion headed north for 53 hours to pluck the almost comatose Frenchman from danger on Sunday night and Antarctic Expedition Leaders Don and Maggie McIntyre figured heavily in news bulletins over the last few days.
 | Rescue of Alain Delord - .. . | The Challenger of Record for the 34th America's Cup, Artemis Racing (SWE) has fitted a new wingsail at their base in Alemeda, San Francisco. Nathan Outteridge and the team expect to be on the water in around a week. The Australian 18ft scene rolls on with Aussie titles ahead of thr JJ Giltinan Worlds. On the weekend another Thurlow Fisher Lawyers, ahead of Gotta Luv it 7 and Pure Blonde. And in the Vendee Globe, high drama with third placed Jean-Pierre Dick losing his keel. Lots more news, we will stand aside and let you enjoy.
