Sail-World around the World
|
Sail-World has been at the London Boat Show this week. Two days ago we were at historic Trinity House when Bob Fisher, our Sail-World America's Cup correspondent and Yachting Journalist Association former Chairman and Pantaenius UK CEO John McCurdy announced that Sir Ben Ainslie was the Pantaenius British Sailor of the Year. You can watch the video on Sail-World today. At Trinity House we also talked to Iain Williams, four times World Match Racing Tour World Champion, who is keen to break Peter Gilmour’s record in 2013. Lots happen on the world scene at the moment with the Vendee Globe fleet working up the Atlantic and locally there is news from the Musto Skiff and 16ft skiff Australian titles and looking further ahead it’s the Fremantle to Bali Race. Right now the Festival of Sail, just a week away, no late entry waivers, go fast now. News from the Audi IRC Australian title fleet, the Melges 24 Nationals, remember next year it will be world titles at this event and the A Cats. The Australian autumn winter season is stretching is ahead of us and its hard yards for sure with Sail Port Stephens from April 15th to 22nd, after that Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, the Fremantle to Bali race and rally starting on May 4th, the Etchells Midwinters and then Southport, Keppel, Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island. Bookending the winter season will be the seventh annual Sealink Magnetic Island Race Week August 29th to September 3rd 2012, Preliminary NOR online now – More information here.
