At the end of the Weymouth Olympics much of the world sailing focus has moved to the America's Cup.

The AC World Series action has taken place in San Francisco, California USA over recent days with tough competition for Team Ben Ainslie Racing (Team BAR).

During day four of the event, Aussie James Spithill of Oracle Team USA delivered a spectacular pitchpole, which became the sailing event news of the week world-wide.

Oracle Team USA Spithill claimed the overall event victory and Team BAR snagged second place with Artemis Racing - White and Emirates Team New Zealand claiming third and fourth respectively.

Following the conclusion of the competition, Ben noted in his blog that, ‘Overall we had a great series here, the improvements from last time are massive and we know we have the ability to come back and start winning these events so that’s the plan moving forward.’

It might seem all very complex and you can read Richard Gladwell’s full analysis but the fact is, the 2013 America’s Cup is going to be very much about high speed foiling and when you think what a foiling moth can do, just think about the speeds that will be achieved with the sail area of an AC72.

We can hardly wait until the main game next year, but meanwhile we continue to get great reports from Bob Fisher in San Francisco and we welcome you all along for the ride.

Our America's Cup newsletter series is proving very popular, going to a giant audience both locally and worldwide.
