London Olympics 2012 Sailing competition, Weymouth - Laser Radial class.

Evi Van Acker (BEL) and Marit Bouwmeester (NED) each took victory in a race in the Laser Radial class to reduce Annalise Murphy's (IRL) early lead. The Irish girl sits at the top of the leader board on 12 points whilst Van Acker is two behind on 14 and Bouwmeester is on 19.

The Belgian won Race 5 by a three second gap over Great Britain's Alison Young and a great comeback in Race 6 to saw her finish the race in fifth, 'I had a few really good comebacks,' said Van Acker. 'It was really tricky out there because it was windy and then not so windy and the wind was shifting. A rain front was predicted so everybody was a bit like where do we go. I was behind in two races and I got every chance to fight for it and I took all my chances. I'm really happy with my sailing.'

Bouwmeester also had an impressive day with a sixth in Race 5 before posting her first bullet of the regatta in Race 6. The world number one said, 'I was not so happy with my first race, it was so tricky but I put myself back in the game with the last race so another day to fight. I'm happy to have a day off tomorrow and then come back. It looks pretty windy so better fuel up and get myself ready.'

Murphy maintains her lead however she could only manage an eighth and a 19th in a tricky day of sailing on the Weymouth Bay West Course. Even though she struggled she is still happy with the way things are going, 'It's brilliant being half-way through the regatta and still being in first spot. But there are still four races to go. It's kind of hard to keep on winning races.'

The Radials enjoy a lay day on tomorrow before racing resumes at 13:30 local time on the Portland Harbour course.
