After five days of competition, the World RS500 Championships and RS200 and RS400 Eurocup have come to close.

Once again Fraglia Vela Riva was able to ensure that the maximum number of scheduled races were carried out (10 for the RS500 and eight for the RS200 and RS400), despite the unusually light- medium wind conditions on Trentino Garda.

Over the last fifteen days races have been held for the various RS classes (last week the European RS100, 700 and 800 Championships took place), and the spirit in which the participants tackled the regattas in the single and double skiffs was greatly appreciated by all.

Their willingness to come all the way to Trentino Garda was rewarded with the discovery of an area rich in events (many competitors brought along their families), both on water and on land.

Away from the rigours of competition, there was an atmosphere of goodwill among the various nationalities present at the event; the Brits (the largest representation), the Dutch, the Swedes and Italians.

World RS 500 Championships
Tim Wilkins and Heather Martin once again claimed the title they won in 2010. They even had the luxury of being able to sit out the last two races (discarded), to finish tied on points with Americans Carolyn Howe (7th on the Yngling at Beijing Olympics) and Mischa Heemskerk on the bow who took a 2-1. Brits Gregory and Paul Barlett confirmed their third place with a 1-5. Three Italian crews made the top ten: Carlino- Rubini eighth, Finazzi-Bragagnini ninth and Bucciarelli-Tropiano 10th. The Dutch 'fiancés' finished 11th.
