Running parallel to the Forum, the Yacht Racing Design and Technology Symposium will focus on the new VOR one-design, the potential applications from the aeronautics industry and high performance yacht racing. Wednesday’s Forum sessions will focus – amongst others – on Olympic sailing. The day will start with a keynote speech by four times Olympic Gold winner Ben Ainslie. Other topics will include the role of Yacht Clubs and cities in events organisation, and the best use of social media. A general discussion with delegates from both the Forum and the Symposium will conclude the day, based on tomorrow’s World – The future of Yacht Racing – and animated by key personalities from the America’s Cup, Vendée Globe, Volvo Ocean Race and other View Speakers List

The 2012 Yacht Racing Image of the Year, presented by financial group Mirabaud, will be announced during the Forum. The delegates from the Forum and the Symposium will be asked to vote on day one, and to pre-select the best five photographs out of the 24 already selected by the public. An international and independent Jury comprising Christian Février, yacht racing photographer, Shirley Robertson, double Olympic Gold Medallist and TV Presenter, Ben Ainslie, quadruple gold and silver Olympic medallist, Antonio Palma, partner and CEO, Mirabaud and Will Morris, CEO, Informa will then select the Yacht Racing Image of the Year 2012 amongst the top five photographs selected by the delegates of the World Yacht Racing Forum.
