The Victorian Laser Championships were sailed at Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club over the weekend of 23/24 March in trying conditions for the race management team which saw winds up to 30 knots on day two. The fleet - over 65 plus - followed the Victorian Masters which had 50 plus entries demonstrating the strength of the VLA.

In the Laser 4.7 class, which had just under 30 entries, current 4.7 Australian Champion Jack Felsenthal won and Charlotte Llewelyn from Sorrento winning the girls category. In the very competitive Radial fleet, Simon Merritt from McCrae YC won with Anna Phillip from Sandringham and Sorrento winning the girls category. The standard division was won by prior Radial champion and VIS Squad member Jeremy O'Connell.
