Currently Phil and Garth are in Hong Kong preparing for the China Cup, which will be held in Shenzhen (Oct 28-31, 2011). Here they will meet and compete with the rest of the China Team crew in the Beneteau 40.7 division.
After completion of the regatta everyone will fly out for San Diego where fellow Waka Racing team member Sam Bell will also join them. All three will get the opportunity to train on the AC45 and be involved with China Team during the San Diego World Series event.
This is a huge opportunity for Waka Racing to get valuable experience on the AC45 and bring the team’s objective of competing in the America’s Cup another step closer.
Waka Racing is still committed to the World Match Racing Tour, currently waiting on a Wild Card Entry to the final event, the Monsoon Cup. They hope to compete next year on the WMRT, as they have unfinished business there.
Thank you to our sponsors Tax Management NZ, Fedex Express, KZ Race Furlers, Line 7, RNZYS, Frontend Design, Devine Consultants and the Waka Racing Supporters Club. We owe you guys everything and hope we have done you all proud.
