On May 17, Bertrand de Broc announced he had raised enough money to purchase a yacht. And on June 25, the French skipper went one step further in his Vendée Globe participation as his boat was launched in Port-la-Forêt.

With her sails showing the official colors of the project and her hull covered with thousands of contributors’ names, Votre Nom autour du Monde (Your Name around the World) was launched in front of a crowd of supporters gathered in Port-la-Forêt for the occasion. Also attending were Armel Le Cléac’h, who will also compete in the Vendée Globe, and Lorans Robinetterie CEO Benoît Lorans.

For Bertrand de Broc, the launch of Votre Nom autour du Monde marks the beginning of the Vendée Globe adventure.

'My main goal was to be at the start of the Vendée Globe, then the next one will be to finish the race and perform well in the process if I get a chance.

'We’ve already completed the first part of the project, which was to create a synergy between thousands of people and our project so we could purchase a yacht.

'We now have to make sure we keep our effort going because we still need support to raise the funds we need to make our 60-foot boat competitive enough.'

The French yachtsman is still looking for about 300,000 euros to balance his ideal budget.
