Van Liew Signs First Associate Sponsor

.

ONDECK Group has joined forces with Brad Van Liew's ECO 60 campaign to compete in the VELUX 5 OCEANS race, signing on as the first Associate Sponsor and attaining exceptional branding opportunities on the mast, deck and sails of Le Pingouin. ONDECK will also serve as the exclusive source of Official Team Lazarus/Le Pingouin merchandise available to the general public, selling both casual wear and Gill technical apparel worn by Brad and the team.

'We are excited to be a part of the Lazarus team and proud to sponsor Brad in his third solo race around the globe,' said Richard Speer, Managing Partner of ONDECK U.S. 'As Brad's adventures during the race are shared with a worldwide audience of sailors and non-sailors alike, we hope to open the sailing experience to all and demonstrate that the dream of adventure sailing is accessible, affordable and safe.'

Four short months ago, ONDECK, one of the fastest growing sailing, racing, and sail training companies in Europe and the Caribbean announced their entry into the U.S. market, selecting Charleston, South Carolina as their first Sailing Center and base of U.S. operations. Braving new territory comes naturally to ONDECK, a company that delivers excellence across a full range of sailing-based services including transatlantic crossings, adventure sailing, and sailing instruction to a worldwide audience.'

ONDECK offers a wide range of sailing opportunities, from weekend sailing lessons, charters and match racing to the opportunity to sail competitively in world class events like Cowes Week and the Rolex Fastnet Race aboard ONDECK's word-class fleet of racing yachts. While many of ONDECK's customers are highly experienced sailors, the majority begin as complete novices. The company is also well known for delivering impressive corporate entertainment, team building, match racing and group events.

'I am hopeful that my upcoming race will inspire both new and experienced sailors to get out on the open water and participate in this great sport,' said Brad Van Liew. 'ONDECK is a great new partner and their programs provide the opportunity to experience the joy of a leisurely sail with instruction, or the exhilarating challenge of competitive ocean racing.'

ONDECK is designing and producing a complete line of Official Team Lazarus/Le Pingouin gear, which will be available online before the start of the race on October 17th and in the official ports of the event. The gear will sport the determined penguin graphic dominant on the race boat. ONDECK is not new to meeting consumer needs for merchandise, having managed the full line of gear offered at Antigua Race Week and other international events and regattas.

'I feel this is a great opportunity to support competitive sailing, while offering the public quality gear that can be worn with pride,' said Peter Anthony, Chairman of ONDECK worldwide. 'With a portion of the proceeds from each sale going to Team Lazarus, the purchase of gear provides individuals an opportunity to contribute to Brad's effort to win the VELUX 5 OCEANS race in a real and tangible way.' Team Lazarus gear will be available online; through ONDECK bases and retail outlets.

The VELUX 5 OCEANS starts from La Rochelle in France on October 17, 2010 and features five ocean sprints. After heading from La Rochelle, France to Cape Town, South Africa, the race heads across the vast Southern Indian Ocean to Wellington, New Zealand. From there, the racing yachts will head to Salvador, Brazil, then up the Atlantic to Charleston, USA before returning across the ocean to France to the finish.
