USODA Southeast Championship - Racing commences Saturday

With registration at 132 young 8-15 year old skippers through the mid-weekend, the US Optimist Dinghy Association Southeast Championship (USODA) starts Friday Sept 20 with practice sessions and clinics at the Pensacola Yacht Club in Pensacola FL. Real racing commences on Saturday morning, Sept 21.
This regional championship regatta is a USODA Team Trials Qualifying (TTQ) event. The top 25 % of Team Trial Qualifying competitors will be eligible for entry into the 2014 Team Trials to be held at Stamford Yacht Club, CT.
Registration is still open for the Championship Red, White Blue Fleets and the beginners Green Fleet. From now to the final entry deadline, 1800 on Tuesday Sept 17, a very, very late fee of $50 will apply. Registration is online at the USODA
website.
Entries are in from as far West as Houston and as far North as New Jersey and Ontario. Of course, entries are in from all over the south, throughout Florida and up the East coast and from places in between like Atlanta. This USODA Southeast Championship is a qualifier for the USODA Team Trials 2014.
There will also be a Green Fleet and all young Opti sailors 6-15 years old in the region are encouraged to attend. The off-the-beach location at PYC near Sanders Beach is particularly Green Fleet and spectator friendly. Tom Coleman, Green Fleet PRO, is well known to Opti families and will be a great complement to PRO John Matthews who handles the Red, White and Blue Fleets.
