The Tullett Prebon London Boat Show 2013 lined up a number of exciting RYA events along with the launching of new handbooks and announcement of new winners in a week-long event, which runs from January 12 to 20, 2013. In cooperation with Elite Sailing and the Personal Watercraft Partnership, the upcoming London Boat Show hopes to equal or even surpass the success of the RYA Active Marina Experience at the Southampton Boat Show.

At the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show 2013 (12-20 January) the RYA will be bringing a host of activities, launches and winners to the show.

Following the huge success of the RYA Active Marina Experience at the Southampton Boat Show, we will once again be holding our Active Marina Experience Shore based Workshops, provided by Elite Sailing and the Personal Watercraft Partnership.

The free workshops, held on the Which Marina stand (E138), will give you the opportunity to refresh your boating skills and gain top tips from expert instructors. Taking place each day workshop topics include; Berthing and Boat Handling, Diesel Engine Basics, Personal Watercraft (Jet Ski) workshop and Radar Operation.

Places are very limited so it is highly recommended you book your place in advance. Book in advance by emailing bookings@which-marina.com or calling 01784 223817 to guarantee your space.

Over on the RYA stand (A152) you’ll have the chance to test your knot tying skills in the aptly named ‘Knot Tying Challenge’. See how quickly you can correctly tie the selection of boating knots or challenge your friends and family to a ‘tie-off’ and crown yourself knot tying champion!

We’ll also be asking you to ‘Have your Say’ and tell us what you feel is the most important aspect of the work we do here at the RYA. Is it our work lobbying government and protecting your boating, or developing training courses and publications to build your confidence and keep you safe on the water, or are you mad about high performance sailing and the development programmes we offer? We want to know what’s closest to your heart. So visit the RYA stand, pick up a token and cast your vote.

During the show we will be unveiling two great new RYA publications; the RYA Yachtmaster Handbook and the RYA Boat Maintenance Handbook.

On Wednesday 16 (approx.14.30, RYA stand A152), to mark the launch of the Yachtmaster Handbook, HRH The Princess Royal will be making a special presentation to the book’s author, James Stevens, while on Saturday 19 (14.00, RYA stand A152), we will be chatting with Andrew Simpson author of RYA Boat Maintenance handbook to find out more about writing the book and his top tips for boat maintenance.

Purchase a copy of the Yachtmaster Handbook and you could be in with a chance of winning five days of RYA Yachtmaster Offshore/RYA Yachtmaster Coastal Preparation courtesy of UKSA.

Purchase a copy of the title direct from the RYA and you will automatically be included into the prize draw. Full details of the competition can be found on the RYA website.

At the show we will also be presenting awards to the RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year winners, before seeing who is shortlisted for the YJA Pantaenius Young Sailor of the Year Award winner (Saturday 12, 14.00, Knowledge Box).

Then on Wednesday 16 January we will unveil the winner of the RYA Yachtmaster™ of the Year Award. HRH The Princess Royal will be joining RYA Training Manager Richard Falk on the stand (A152) to present the prize to this year’s winner (approx. 14.40). Also on Wednesday 16 (12.00, RYA stand A152) The Green Blue will be presenting Poole Quay Boat Haven and Port of Poole Marina with the coveted Green Blue Toolkit certificates that recognise the positive actions they have taken to make their marinas as environmentally friendly as possible.

As usual throughout the show members of RYA staff will be available on the stand to provide you with loads of advice and information on training courses, getting started and membership.

For 2013 we have two great offers for new and existing members.

New members to sign up to RYA membership at the show (all membership types) will receive 15 months membership for the price of 12 and if you’re one of the first 10 existing members to renew your membership each day you’ll have the choice of a free RYA umbrella or navigation bag or be one of the first to own a new RYA water bottle or coffee mug (whilst stocks last).

You’ll also have the chance to win some fantastic Gill goodies in our free prize draw competition. Simply complete the entry form, found on the RYA stand or in the members lounge and you could be in with a chance of winning.

A host of RYA publications will be available to purchase throughout the show with a special 20% discount across the board for RYA members.

And, if you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the show members can relax in the exclusive RYA Members Lounge situated in the Platinum Suite, serving food and beverages throughout the day.

RYA Members you can buy tickets in advance at the special discounted price of £10*, for any day of the show. And don't forget that 'Kids Go Free' - up to two children aged 15 and under can enter free with each paying adult.
