Tsunami cuts North Sails 420 Nationals short

The tide was in and so was a good sailing breeze, but unfortunately the Pacific Tsunami warning prevented any further racing today in the North sails 420 Nationals at Murrays Bay SC.

James Turner (Murrays Bay) and Logan Dunning Beck (Wakatere) had already won the regatta the day before with a race to spare. Thomas Saunders (Tauranga) and Chris Steele(Wakatere) held on to second place and Ku Anas Ku Zamil with Mohd Hafizzudin Mazelan (Malaysia) were placed third on countback.

The Malaysian women, Khairunnisa Afendy and Norashikin Sayed were fourth and top women's boat. The top New Zealand women were Erica Dawson and Vicky Francis (Murrays Bay).

Well done to Murrays Bay Yacht Club for evacuating all of the boats so early this morning and ensuring the competitors and supporters remained clear of the beach and safe.
