Organisers of the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia Mapfre 2013 announced on Friday that Nautic S’Arenal and Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa will be the venues for the Olympic classes of the ISAF Sailing World Cup at Bay of Palma from March 30 to April 6. Besides Club Nautic S’Arenal and Can Pastilla, Real Club Náutico de Palma remains as organiser of the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofía Mapfre, the largest event in Spain. Club Nàutic S’Arenal will be the venue for Paralympic class 2.4mR and Olympic classes Finn, 470 M & W, 49er and 49er FX, with its debut as new Women’s Olympic boat. Classes Laser Standard and Radial, RS:X M & W and Nacra, the new Olympic multihull will be based at Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa Six racing areas will be set in waters of the bay of Palma, two of them under the direction of Real Club Náutico de Palma. The Pabisa Beach Club, leisure centre on the beach of Playa de Palma, located halfway between the two venues of the del 44 Sofia Mapfre, will continue to be the regatta village and a meeting point to follow the racing as well as the social events venue. The organisation of the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofía Mapfre has signed collaboration agreements with Hotel group Pabisa and shipping company Balearia so that all teams coming to Mallorca can benefit from special discount rates in accommodation and transport to the island. This year, journalists and photographers attending the regatta will also benefit from these special rates. New era for Olympic sailing 2013 will be the starting point of a new Olympic sailing era, with the introduction of new, spectacular classes – despite the postponement of the inclusion of the Kite boarding– and the introduction of innovative competition formats. The 44th edition of the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia Mapfre will test these formats for the first time Europe, as the first stop in the continent of the new ISAF Sailing World Cup, with events in Australia, United States and Asia, besides the two European events , the Sofia Mapfre and the ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyères. This Olympic and Paralympic circuit had five European events, one in the United States and one in Australia. In order to make it a more global circuit, the ISAF has extended it to Asia and has reduced to two the number of events in Europe.
