Transatlantic speed record and glorious sunshine
by Sail-World UK Team on 4 Jun 2010
Six days ago the 100ft super-maxi yacht owned by Mike Slade began its 2,925 nautical mile journey in an attempt to beat the transatlantic speed record. Last reported to have been travelling at 20 knots, the crew said that if they were doing anything below that, they were disappointed, and that watching the clock tick down in those circumstances was frustrating. We will find out tomorrow if they have managed to break the previous record, held by Mari Cha IV of 6 days, 17 hours and 52 minutes. Good luck!
For that, and many more stories from the UK and across the world check out Sail-World.
A glorious weekend ahead, it seems. Sunshine and some breeze on Saturday and more on Sunday with force 5 or beyond in the Solent.
Have a fabulous weekend.
