Torbole 293 Garda Trentino World Championship – Day 3 Elena GiolaiCSTorbole
The wind is back to Garda Trentino: wonderful day in Torbole at Techno 293 World Championship and Italian guys are still the protagonists.

Fantastic triple double for Giorgia Speciale and Enrica Schirru, respectively first and second in the overall classification. Second place confirmed for Ncoló Renna and in the top ten also the brother Riccardo.

The Garda Trentino “wind machine” started again at full speed in the third day of Techno 293 World Championship. The north wind begun to blow ever since the night and at 9 am the Circolo Surf Torbole wasn’t able to wait with the first batteries already in the water in the two race courses and 14 to 25 knots gusts.

At lunchtime, a suddenly change: Ora wind from the south started to blow and at 15 pm, Under 17 and Plus athletes took the water for the third race of the day. U-17 concluded their daily three races before noon.

A very great day for Italian team, especially for the youth! An amazing triple double for Giorgia Speciale and Enrica Schirru, respectively first and second of U-17 girls. The Renna’s brothers, Nicoló and Riccardo, were instead the protagonists of the two U-17 boys fleets: Riccardo won the first race of the day, then made a second and ended twentieth when wind decreased. Three second places for Nicoló, who’s still behind the first one, the USA Nores.

U-17 girls

It’s an Italian supremacy in the Under-17 girl class: Giorgia Speciale (SEF Stamura Ancona) dominates with an impressive result: five first of the six races held!

Just behind her, Enrica Schirru (Windsurfing Club Cagliari), another Italian girl: 11 points from her team-mate. Third place for the Israeli Mor Tourgeman. Below, Israel, Argentina and Greece are pointing to the podium, among nations with the most aggressive athletes.

U-17 boys

The male´s ranking is led by the American Geronimo Nores, but just two points behind we find Nicoló Renna, the bearer of Circolo Surf Torbole, with very regular results: four second and two thirds. Third place went to the Argentine Belisario Kopp.

In the top ten also the brother Riccardo Renna, who´s definitely more powerful with strong wind, so that we won with margin the first race of the day, followed by a second, but stopped twentieth when wind fell down. It is close to very first group, also Alex Gasser from Caldaro (eleventh).

Plus man and women

After four races, there’s a balanced leading group among women: first place for the Mexican Mariana Aguilar ended in a tie with the French Clementine Le Joliff; provisional third place for the Polish Patrycja Lis. As far as Italy is concerned, Rosanna Stancampiano is in the top ten.

Even among males there’s balance with a minimum score detachments: in the lead the American Steven Cramer, thereafter the French Hugo Mollard-Tanguy and third position for the Italian Antonino Cangemi. Well done also for the other Italian athlete, Daniele Gallo, fifth after four races.

U-15 girls

After four races, the French Gerandeau took the lead, Mak Cheuk Wing second and the French Jariel Elisa third. Comeback for Marta Monge (CN Loano) who plainly races better with strong wind.

Seventh position for the other Ligurian Matilde Fassio.

U-15 boys

Very close results among youngest boys: the Greek Kalpogiannakis is leading in a tie with the French Ghio. Third position for the Israeli Zror.

Good average for the local Alessandro José Tomasi (Lega Navale Italiana Riva) with a sixth and good position also for Gabriele Guella, the other Italian guy from Circolo Surf Torbole (tenth position of overall classification).

Tomorrow races will be very important for Gold and Silver Fleet division and first possible start at 9 o’clock.
