'South American Championship Day 2'    Patrik Pollak

After day two of the Techno 293 South American Championship, there is no doubt that Francisco Saubidet ARG-40 has his sights firmly set on the title. After writing off the first race of the event with a too-enthusiastic over-the-line start, he has taken the bullet in every race, his DNF is now discarded and he has the perfect score of four.

Francisco is a clear ten points ahead of his closest rival, Geronimo Nores USA-108, second at the recent North American Championships. Not such a good day for last night's leader, Lars van Sommeren from the Netherlands who has slipped down to third, on 16 equal points with Facundo Ridriguez Beistegui ARG-102 who posted improving results today.

First girl Maria Belen Basso from Peru has slipped down to fifth overall and our first Brazilian, Daniel Pereira, is now sixth.

First Under-15 boy Argentinian Martin Nores has moved up the leaderboard past our first Under-15 girl Brazilian Larissa Ricci Schenker.

Gaston Burmudez, the sole representative from Uruguay, said, 'I am enjoying it a lot because I have never raced with so many people before and they are very good, so I am having a great time . . . It's been tough, I think I'll manage a lot better in stronger winds . . .'

Dad and coach, Alvaro Bermudez, said, 'I think it's fantastic this Class . . . the ambiance between the kids is so healthy, amongst the parents as well . . . so it's a really good Class to race and to get into windsurfing.'

Mack van den Eerenbeemt from Aruba was in second place overnight but has tumbled down the leaderboard to 10th. We also have Maximo Nores, North American Champion wallowing down in 12th place overall. Undoubtedly they are also praying that the wind gods bring the promised stronger winds on day three.
