The Audi TP52 World Championship held a practice race today and together with the other competitors, Audi Azzurra Sailing Team had a productive training day on their home waters in Porto Cervo.

The Transpac 52 boats gathered in Porto Cervo for the Class World Championship with the cream of professional yachtsmen aboard, raced in a light north-north westerly breeze of approximately seven knots, and which never reached more than 10 knots, during the Practice Race.

'We are really happy with how things went on the water' commented Vasco Vascotto, tactician aboard Azzurra. 'On these boats you learn something new each day and today we had really positive results.'

Skipper Guillermo Parada agreed: 'We worked on some solutions that we are fine-tuning and we are happy with the way the boat reacted. Today we had the same light wind conditions that are forecast for the first few days of the championship before the Mistral that usually brings great results for Azzurra kicks in.'

Racing starts tomorrow and two windward-leewards are scheduled per day with the possibility of a third race if necessary to recuperate missed races. A coastal race through the magnificent islands of the La Maddalena archipelago is scheduled for Thursday.
