Sydney Yachts GTS 43 in the water already of Sydney Boat Show

by Daryl Sharpe on 4 Jul 2011
Very sleek, very Ker lines - GTS 43 Sydney Yachts . http://www.sydneyyachts.com
The very first of the new, Ker designed, GTS 43’s is on the water in Sydney awaiting its mast. This means you’ll soon be able to go onboard and look over this most impressive new vessel, from a team renowned for its ability to build and deliver, strong, fast and reliable racing yachts.

The Sydney International Boat Show is on from July 28 to August 1 at the Cockle Bay Marina in Sydney’s Darling Harbour. It will be the official, worldwide launch of the GTS 43, which is set to raise the bar in the cruiser/racer segment of the market. ‘There are many buyers waiting to inspect, Occasional Coarse Language Too, as she will be known. Some of these clients are from overseas, so we’ll be taking them sailing on Sydney Harbour, after the show closes. The second hull is well and truly sold and with contracts issued for three and four, we really could not be any happier’, said Darren Williams of Sydney Yachts.

‘It’s just so good to see it come together, after all the work that has gone in to this project. It has been a year in the making and to sell boats off the plan is very rewarding. Our famous Australian build quality will be on display, which is fantastic for the local industry and economy. Hull Number One takes a little extra time to get finished, as we have to make all the new moulds for the production run with it, but we have gone to great lengths to get it perfect. During the build, we continually developed the outcome and included many features that are more like what would be found on a custom build, rather than a production yacht. This is true with both the construction techniques employed and the resultant quality, so we are very happy and proud of what we have achieved’, Darren went on to explain.

‘Ker Design really know their stuff and the shape of this boat is just amazing. The forward section looks like it will work well uphill and the aft end is clearly all about going downhill - quickly’, said Darren. When you look at the boot top stripe in the attached images, you really do get a sense of that very fluid shape, which has all the Ker sort of trademarks. Things that have seen their boats take many accolades, from Boat of the Year, to division and overall winners in major yacht races all around the globe. This definitely is a vessel that is light enough to be really fast and yet has enough appointments onboard to keep her genuinely comfortable.

The owner of Hull Number One is Warwick Sherman and the name of this vessel pays homage to his previous vessel, Occasional Course Language. As you can see from the picture, Warwick, along with his good mate Ritchie Allanson from North Sails, were all smiles after a recent viewing of the near finished product. ‘Rapped’ was the simple and yet detailed response from Warwick.
