Final Race Day Award Ceremony hosted by PTT Group Guy Nowell
The Phuket King's Cup Regatta celebrated a successful 25th anniversary in partnership with four new sponsors; PTT Group, Singha Corporation, AIA Thailand and Thaioil. In addition to the valuable support the Regatta receives annually from cornerstone sponsors, these new partnerships helped to grow the reputation of this classic race for 2011 and beyond.

Famed for being Asia's largest 'big boat' regatta, the Phuket King's Cup was founded in 1987 with a mixed fleet of dinghies, boards and keelboats. Over the years, the Regatta has grown in size and stature to become the jewel in the crown of the Asian yachting circuit, welcoming the best-of-the-best from across Asia and the world to compete annually in Phuket.

Dr. Pailin Chuchottaworn, Chief Executive Officer & President, PTT, said, “Other than ensuring Thailand’s future energy security, PTT has also engaged in making policies toward sustainable development for Thai society, community and the environment. Sport sponsorship is one of many CSR activities that PTT continually gives priority to. As well as improving physical and athletic competitiveness and developing sports, it can also be a boon to Thai tourism as well. We are very pleased to sponsor the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta in its silver jubilee year. The Regatta is known throughout Asia for being one of the region’s premier competitive sailing events, and PTT is proud to be a part for several reasons; it sees the introduction of a Kiteboard Class to the programme, a large fleet of keelboats and multi-hulls, and growing competitiveness in the International Dinghy Class. PTT is delighted to support the development of sport sailing in Thailand in partnership with the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta.”

Surong Bulakul, CEO of Thaioil Group, said, “We are very happy to come on board as a sponsor of 2011’s Phuket King’s Cup Regatta. We have great appreciation for the Regatta, as harnessing of natural elements for the provision of power is closely aligned with our own mission. Thaioil Group is dedicated to the preservation of natural resources and the development of a sustainable future. We are very supportive of the growth of sailing in Thailand.”

Many of the sponsors of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta use this special event as a means of growing their brand identification and taking advantage of opportunities to host their customers, employees and partners in a spectacular location. The Regatta is famous for its hospitality and parties, and serves as a great illustration of Thailand’s world-renowned hospitality.

Sponsors of the 2011 Phuket King's Cup Regatta include Kata Group Resorts Thailand, PTT Group, Siam Winery, Singha Corporation, AIA Thailand, PTT Global Chemical, PTTEP, Thaioil, Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket, Boathouse and Sunsail. Media Partners include 91.5FM, Helm Superyacht Asia Pacific, The Nation, Phuket Best Group, Phuket Gazette, Phuket Magazine, Sail-World.com, SEA Yachting and YachtStyle Asia.

The changing face of the Phuket King's Cup
The annual Phuket King's Cup has once again attracted one of the most diverse international fleets in the world. One often sees sports events claiming International status beyond reality, but now in its 26th year, the Phuket King's Cup organisers take so much for granted the amazing nationality mix of skippers and sailors in the fleet that it hardly rates a mention.
