eBooks launch - PSP Southampton Boat Show 2011 RYA http://www.rya.org.uk
PSP Southampton Boat Show is being held between 16 and 24 September 2011. The RYA’s Publications Department will be unveiling some fantastic new technology and publications starting with the launch of RYA eBooks on Saturday 17 at 14.00 on the RYA stand (EO37).

The new RYA eBooks will enable you to download a selection of RYA publications to your iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch® using the new FREE ‘RYA Books’ app, available from the App StoreSM*.

'The free app includes both taster editions so you can check out what eBooks are all about and a selection of RYA titles for you to purchase and download in full' explains Steen Ingerslev, RYA Publications Manager.

'We’ve already had thousands of people download the free app, hitting the top 30 in the ‘books’ category in the app store and if you do download your free app and register your details you could be in with the chance of winning an iPad2 in our prize draw', continued Steen.

Initial publications appearing on the app will include:
• RYA Start Powerboating
• RYA Diesel Engine
• RYA Advance Windsurfing, with more publications coming soon on both Apple and hopefully later in the year Android devices.

Come along and see for yourself the functionality of the eBooks, have a play on the iPad to see how they work and ask the team any questions you may have and if you’re one of the first 50 people to show us that you have downloaded the free app to your device on launch day at the boat show, we’ll give you a free doughnut!

And that’s not all. Getting back to the more traditional publications; on Sunday 18 at 14.00 on the RYA stand (EO37) the team will be joined by author, RNLI Sea Safety Manager, Peter Chennell to launch the new RYA Passage Planning publication. Peter will be outlining what the new book is all about and the essential first steps for this important subject and how to put it into practice.

Then on Saturday 24 at 14.00 join us once more on the RYA stand (EO37) for the launch of the new RYA Offshore Sailing Book. The book’s author, Dick McClary, will be talking all about the new book sharing his extensive offshore experience and advice on cruising offshore.

'We are extremely excited about launching eBooks at this years’ show and the new passage planning and offshore sailing books and we hope that people will come and join us on the stand, see what they are all about for themselves, ask questions of the team and authors and give us their feedback' concluded RYA website
