The Soto 40 Management Group, M Boats and Longitude Yachts have just launched the design of the new Soto 30 One Design yacht.

Building on the strengths and growth of the Soto 40, the new Soto 30 will be an evolution to the 30 foot racing genre to provide a new design that brings a fast, affordable alternative to the start line.

The Management Group’s President, Norberto Alvarez Vitale, says that the new design has been an important strategy for the Soto 40 Class to provide the same simple, fun racing to a smaller boat aimed at the one design racing sailor as well as the club racing enthusiast.

'When we started the Soto 40 Class more than two year ago we weren’t sure if others shared our dislike of the current rating systems. We just wanted to go sailing again in fast, fun boats. Obviously we weren’t the only ones and the growth of the Soto 40 fleet continues to spread around the world. We wanted to bring the same fun to the 30 foot size where a new generation of racing sailors could enjoy the same type of racing. We bring the full resources and experience of the Soto 40 Management Group to the Soto 30 and look forward to seeing the new class sailing in the same one design events with our existing fleets.'

Longitude Yachts will be providing the marketing and help co-ordinate the global sales. The yacht will be constructed by M Boats in China.

'We have developed a great team to bring the new Soto 30 class to the world. Everything from the one design rules to the organising of regattas, world-class construction and highly experienced sailors, marketing and sales professionals. We’ve built the infrastructure already for the Soto 40 and believe that all this experience gives the new Soto 30 a great chance to succeed,' says Norberto.

The new yacht continues the ‘family look’ of the Soto 40 but has aimed for many simplified sailing systems and a less ‘full-on’ design that will not only be fast but also a pleasure to sail.

'People love the powerful rigs, the huge, ergonomic cockpits, flush decks and beautiful foils of the Soto 40 so we’ve brought all this to the Soto 30 design as well. It’s been a huge team effort across the whole management group and we look forward to seeing the first 30s in the water late May.'

The Soto 30 OD sells for US $99,500, ex factory. More information at www.soto30.com
