'A packed rounding in Cannes'

From 12-15 February, Yacht Club de Cannes hosted 84 Finn sailors from eighteen European countries as some of the London 2012 Olympians mixed with some of the grand masters of Finn sailing for the Semaine Internationale Aquarelle.com-Canal+ de Finn de Cannes.
Over seven competitive races Russia's Eduard Skornyakov took the final honours with a consistent display of racing. After the first day of racing was postponed the Russian came out flying on the second day and enjoyed the 5-8 knot southerly breeze to take a bullet, a second and a sixth.
Although it was such an early stage the Russian was well on the way to victory as none of his rivals could match the consistency he showed. Estonian Olympian Deniss Karpak looked to reel Skornyakov in throughout the week but the damage had been done on the second day of racing and the Russian held on to take the gold medal by a comfortable seven points leaving Karpak in second.
Rounding off the podium was Austria's Florian Raudaschel who sailed at his first Olympic Games at London 2012. Florian's father, Hubert, boasts competing at nine Olympic Games and winning silver in 1968 in the Finn and silver again in 1980 in the Star.
Norway's Anders Pedersen picked up the most race wins with two from seven but three results out of the top ten frustrated the Norwegian as he finished fifth overall.
Taking the master title was the experienced Michael Maier (CZE), the Grand Master title went to Marc Allain des Beauvais (FRA), Grand Grand Master was won by Pascal Tetard and the Legend title was comfortably won by Howard Sellars.
