A total of 159 helmsmen competed in the four high-ranking Dragon regatta events that make up the Chronoswiss Baltic Challenge 2008. Winner was the Danish helmsman Jørgen Schönherr. The 2005 Dragon class world champion from Strøby decided this contest on the Baltic Sea in his favour by less than one point.

The overall result was calculated as the average of the best three scores of each skipper. In the end, Jørgen Schönherr with 90.5 points just had the vital edge over his fellow countryman Jens Christensen (89.6 points). Place three went to the Swede Hans Ake Book. The best German skipper was Thomas Müller from Hamburg in fourth place.

Four races counted towards the Chronoswiss Baltic Challenge 2008: the 'Technogym Wellness Cup' (Køge/Denmark), the 'Hanseatic Lloyd Dragon Grand Prix' (Strande/Kiel Bay, Germany), the Swedish Dragon Championship (Marstrand/Sweden) and finally the Dragon European Championship in Oslo/Norway in August.

The prize for the winner is an exclusive 'Styloscope' fountain pen from the Chronoswiss Limited Edition worth €800.

Jørgen Schönherr (51) is one of the best sailors in the past 20 years. At the age of 12 he started sailing in an 'Optimist'. With this Optimist, he won the very first regatta in which he took part in 1971 at the age of 14. Between 1985 and 1999 he was several times World Champion in the Flying Dutchman and 505 classes.

After taking home the Gold Cup of the Dragon class three times on the trot, he also won the 2005 Dragon World Championship. And now at the European Championship in Oslo he sailed into 12th place. But before that he had won the Swedish Championship, and at the Hanseatic Lloyd Dragon Grand Prix he was ranked ninth.
