Sanctuary Cove Boat Show - build on track with plenty of changes

With just 16 days to go until the start of the 2014 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, work is well underway on construction of Pavilion A.

Organisers say everything is on track and with blue skies and warm Queensland weather, work is progressing smoothly. Next to begin construction is the Superyacht and Australian Marine Pavilion adjacent to the marina.

Johan Hasser, head of events Mulpha Sanctuary Cove, says the set up will be 'completely different' from years past, with the main emphasis on showcasing the boats to best advantage.

'We have moved the Channel 7 stage to the deck, clearing space for trailer boat exhibitors and made several changes to the layout and flow of the show,' he says, referring to the new orientation of Pavilion A, among other innovations.

Pavilion A, the largest temporary structure of its kind in the southern hemisphere, has been moved and placed at a different angle, allowing more room for exhibitor space inside as well as more logical flow of visitor traffic throughout.

Hasser reports there are 290 exhibitors registered to date and more coming in each day. 'We are very pleased with exhibitor response. Trailer boats are very strong this year. We have completely sold out space available for the trailerable brands, many of whom are returning after a few years away from SCIBS.'

The marina upgrade too is a source of pride for the boat show team. 'Exhibitors along the boardwalk have lots more usable space and it has done away with those steep stairs.

'The walkway is widened and we now have two main ramps to the marina, with flowing walkways all around. It’s safer, easy to navigate and looks amazing!'

The new and presently unoccupied restaurant space above the marina will house a selection of Maserati models during the boat show.

'We think exhibitors and visitors to this year’s show will be very impressed with the changes.'

Tickets are on sale now through the SCIBS website and through Ticketmaster. Adult day passes start at $20, with concession passes available for seniors and students. Children under 18 are free.
