On February 5th, the Fundació Navegació Oceànica de Barcelona (FNOB) will organize a debate under the title of 'Sailing in the Southern Ocean: the climate change and the ice gates' which will be broadcasted live via the website. The debate will have as speakers: Joan Vila, navigator that holds the current Jules Verne Trophy achieved last year on board Banque Populaire and has raced four times around the world, winning one of them, Marcel Van Triest, meteorologist of the Barcelona World Race, navigator and prestigious router in offshore projects for sailing records, and Jorge Luis Valdés, head of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO, scientist who has taken part in numerous maritime expeditions, some aboard the research vessel Hesperides . The round table will be available on live streaming in three languages (Spanish, English and French) through the website of the Barcelona World Race. The streaming will be divided into two blocks: 13:00 to 13:30 h Conference on the climate change by J.L. Valdés (UNESCO). 15:00 to 16:00 h Round table discussion with Marcel Van Triest, Joan Vila and J.L. Valdés as well as renowned journalists from the nautical sector.
