Sailing Arabia - The Tour 2012 (SATT) second edition is being held from 12 to 27 February. The crew of Courrier Dunkerque, four-time champion of France and World Farr 30 champion in 2010, will participate.

The Dunkerque Plaisance group, led by Daniel Souben, will make the most of the occasion to sail the Farr 30 to the Sultanate of Oman, as a boat which has already competed in the Tour de France à la Voile. The Community of Dunkirk, Veolia Environnement and the Dunes of Flanders will be backing this participation, which constitutes real-life training for the Tour de France à la Voile 2012, the main aim of the season for the inhabitants of Dunkirk. Sirius Evénements, a company managed by Manfred Ramspacher, will support the team with the various marketing aspects involved.

The SATT is a race split into legs to mirror the Tour de France à la Voile format. As such it will be a great way for the sailors on Courrier Dunkerque to get in some training prior to the start of racing in France, which notably includes the Spi Ouest France over Easter weekend. 'It’s an opportunity for our crew to discover new horizons and to launch into some fresh sailing challenges prior to getting their teeth into the French Crewed Championship and the Tour de France. The line-up is an interesting one with the involvement of Bertrand Pacé, Cédric Pouligny and Dee Caffari' states Daniel Souben. 'Our participation in this competition is interesting in two ways' continues Jacques Dussart, President of 'Dunkerque Plaisance'. 'Daniel Souben and his team will be able to continue to make progress at the top level and hone their techniques for the start of the Tour de France à la Voile, which kicks off in the Urban community of Dunkirk at the end of June. We’re also sailing the Farr 30, a boat which has done the Tour de France à la Voile, to the Sultanate of Oman, as it’s a great opportunity to do Team Courrier Dunkerque website
