Sail Sydney 2012 dates announced

by Mainsheet Media on 13 Mar 2012
The 29ers had their State Championships at Sail Sydney 2011 Robin Evans
It may only be March but you need to mark your diary for Sail Sydney 2012 now – 13-16 December.

Part of the Sail Down Under series, Sail Sydney is up to four days of high class, high adrenaline racing for all dinghy classes. Against the backdrop of the Sydney skyline, hundreds of competitors from around Australia and around the world will race in this ISAF grade one event.

In 2011 over 250 sailors competed at Sail Sydney which was held on the waters of Sydney Harbour and Botany Bay as it will be again this year. The Moths opened the regatta with the ‘Dash for Cash’ as the spectators watched all the action and took in the commentary from Woollahra Sailing Club.

The Contenders held their State Championships, the A-Class catamarans had World Champions competing, the 29ers were fired up for their State Championships, and the Optimist sailors showed they are the Olympians of tomorrow as they and all other classes enjoyed the conditions.

This year will see the return of the Dash for Cash, parties and entertainment, an expanded regatta village, and some of the best racing you will have all year as Sail Sydney launches itself once again as New South Wales premier sailing event.

Notice of Race and further details will be posted on the website.

America's Cup - Scary video from today's collision between GBR and JPN
LRBAR's hull not been stopped by SBTJ's windward foil there would have been serious injuries aboard the Japanese boat. All I can say is that had LRBAR's hull not been stopped by SBTJ's windward foil there would have been serious injuries aboard the Japanese boat. Moreover, notwithstanding the damage done to Land Rover BAR's boat, there must be considerable damage to the dagger-foil case of SBTJ. Considerable.

Onboard Phaedo^3's Transpacific Course World Record run across Pacific
The past few years we have had a good share of success with at least one wrong turn in our racing program. When Brian Thompson and I were planning the Phaedo3 program we had a wish list of races and records which would be nice to attempt if we had a MOD70.
