Sail Mooloolaba 2013 – Dinghies ahoy!

Dinghy sailors ahoy; whether you are junior, youth or adult, now is the time to enter for the fourth annual Sail Mooloolaba dinghy regatta.

Event manager David Thomson is looking forward to another great dinghy sailing event for the closing weekend of Sail Mooloolaba 2013 to be held on the 29th and 30th June..

'I have been talking to the invited classes and we are expecting entries from Laser Standard, Laser Radial, Arrows as this is their State Championship, 505s, Contenders, Hobie 16s ad Optimist classes. We also expect a few Sabots will be coming down from Noosa.

'The strongest numbers are likely to come from Laser Radial.

'The Optimist racing will be held on open water for the more experienced and in the river in front of The Wharf for the Green fleet, or less experienced fleet members,' Thomson said.

The race officer for the two-day event will be the highly experienced Alan Carlisle.

Thomson’s enthusiasm for the event and for the venue is contagious. 'Why come here ? It’s a fantastic location. The weather is going to be wonderful. And for the adults, there will be a vibrant party scene,' Thomson said.

Sail Mooloolaba Celebration of Sailing is a week-long event that commences on the 22nd and 23rd June with the Sports Boats and Trailable Yachts Winter Nationals. Then during the week there is Radio Controlled Yacht racing, a Fun Race for the big boats, Schools Match Racing and then the dinghies on the final weekend.
