The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show has become a corporate member of SYBA (Superyacht Base Australia), with Barry Jenkins joining the board of SYBA.

The boat show has signed an agreement with SYBA and will work with SYBA and AIMEX in promoting the interests of both at various international events and boat shows, including key shows Monaco Yacht Show and Ft Lauderdale International Boat Show.

MaryAnne Edwards, chief executive of AIMEX (which oversees day to day operations of SYBA) and SYBA, says the agreement is just one of many developments SYBA has to look forward to this year.

'It's great to have Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show onboard,' says MaryAnne. 'They have a significant superyacht presence at the show in the Superyacht Pavilion and we will be working with them on enhancing exposure for the superyacht sector.'

She adds: 'We have lots of interesting developments for 2011 and beyond that will be discussed at the next board meeting, to be held in Brisbane 16 February. We will be confirming the direction and stratgegy for SYBA for the year ahead.'

SYBA is made up of representatives form the key clusters of Whitsundays, Cairns, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, WA and Darwin. The Board has been expanded and now includes: David McQueen Director Azzura Marine (Gold Coast) Pty Ltd; Dominic White Chairperson MTU Detroit Diesel Australia; Rodney Tweddle Director SuperYacht Base Western Australia & Darwin; Richard Morris Director NSW Cluster; Joe Akacich Director Gold Coast; Murray Owen Director Gold Coast; Mike Ebsworth Director Maritime Projects; Mark Shepherd Smith Director Whitsunday Mackay Superyacht Cluster; Carrie Carter Director Cairns and Barry Jenkins.
