SLAM NSW Combined High Schools Championship 2013 - Countdown starts

SLAM Combined High Schools Regatta, which will be hosted by the Belmont 16ft Sailing Club in April, has already released on Monday the Notice of the Race and started accepting entries online.

[Sorry, this content could not be displayed] The regatta will be held from Tuesday 16th -20th April, entries are open to all classes and competitors who are currently attending an Australian High School. The event is highly regarded as the training ground for many of our future champions. Past winners have included State, National and World Champions along with Olympic and AC sailors.

This year, the regatta is expected to be bigger and better than ever with growing interest in the event. Several changes have been introduced to the Race format including an increase in the number of races and changes to racing courses.

The CHS Sailing Championship Race Director, Rod Carter is proud to announce SLAM has continued its ongoing involvement in the regatta and youth development in Australia. The regatta is also supported by DeckHardware, Belmont 16ft Sailing Club and NSW CHSSA.



Online entries will be open right up until the Regatta commences. However, entries received after 9 April will incur a late Combined High Schools Regatta

18ft Skiffs Yandoo Trophy – Ward, Marshall and West win first race
Young team had to withstand huge pressure from the fleet’s top crews before crossing the finish line with 40s to spare. Following last week’s brilliant performance with a brand new number one rig, Appliancesonline.com.au (David Witt, Tom Anderson, Tom Clout) again showed the skiff to be a major threat in the upcoming championships with a great second placing.

At 0240 UTC on Sunday, Kojiro, Skipper of Spirit of Yukoh contacted his shore team to tell them that he had dismasted. At 0240 UTC on Sunday December 4th, Kojiro Shiraishi, Skipper of Spirit of Yukoh contacted his shore team to tell them that he had dismasted. The boat Spirit of Yukoh was sailing in a moderate breeze (20 knots). Kojiro inside of the boat heard the sound of the mast breaking at around 0230 UTC.
