Ronstan Contender Worlds - Bonezzi slips

by Media/ Gerald New on 12 Jan 2006
Andrea Bonezzi of Italy retains his lead after two more races at the Ronstan Contender World Championship at the Fremantle SC, Australia. But for the first time in the series he had to take second place - in fact third place.

Marcus Hamilton, the new Australian champion, won race five after Bonezzi had taken race four. In that race Hamilton was again in second place but for race five he was a winner with fellow Australian, Tim Hill in second and Bonezzi third.

In the first race Simon Mussell of Briton took third and is the best placed Brit at fifth overall. But this event looks to be all about Bonezzi and Hamilton, only two points seperate the two.

The Fremantle Doctor has been giving some a rough ride and a number of sailors have yet to complete a race, but although nine stayed ashore today the fleet all got round ok.

A total of nine races are scheduled, with the final on Friday.
