RYA Sailability supports people with a disability to be able to experience sailing and to sail regularly.

A sailor from Troon has taken on a new role to promote the work of Sailability, encouraging sailing clubs and centres in Scotland to provide and enhance disabled facilities.

David Hill, who works as an activities instructor and currently runs a multi-activity centre for people of all abilities, has become the new face of RYA Sailability as Scotland’s Regional Organiser (RO) and is committed to getting more disabled people out sailing.

'I am excited about my new challenge. Working as RO will allow me to find ways to share the experiences of other Sailability groups in the area and to introduce sailing to as many disabled people as possible.'

Debbie Blachford, RYA Sailability Manger said: 'We are delighted to welcome David to the team. The RO’s are a vital link between the head office team and Sailability groups around the country. They also link local disabled people with the right Sailability group in the area as well as developing and improving disabled sailing in clubs across the country.'

David, an RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and Yachtmaster Shorebase Instructor, is also skipper of the Yacht Able2Sail which takes disabled people and their families out sailing. He is currently secretary of the Sailability group ‘Sailing Access in Lochwinnoch (S.A.I.L) which runs at Castle Semple Centre.
