I’m sitting here crying in my beer because the Farr 1104 Rising Farrst will not be competing in this year’s Sunferries Magnetic Island Race Week.
I sold her in April to Tim Osbourne of Airlie Beach and to his credit is continuing to campaign having got third in 'Performance Racing' at Meridien Marinas Airlie Beach Race Week held in late August.
The good thing is my beer is cold, these days I own a business called the Stubby Cooler Company and are a sponsor of Sunferries Magnetic Island Race Week, that allows me to still be involved in the regatta without steering the boat, and at the same time become a bit of a social butterfly.
Will I get withdrawal symptoms? And buy another boat? Only time will tell.
In the millennium year I pulled the pin on the corporate world in Adelaide and my wife Ngaio and I became classic sea change people setting up a small manufacturing business in Townsville, manufacturing Stubby Coolers for the promotional products industry and Corporate Australia.
