Platu 25 World Championship 2011 is being held in Gmunden, on the wonderful Austrian Traunsee Lake.

After six very intensive races competed in the last two days this morning the 46 Platu crews had to give up racing. The fleet went out at 11.00 as was scheduled in the notice of race. The Committee wanted to attempt at least the first start but the weather conditions didn’t allow any race to be completed.

In the afternoon the weather forecast seemed to be encouraging, with a South West wind from 6 to 18 knots, but at 13.30 a weak and changeable wind forced the crews to go back to the port. Therefore nothing changed and the exciting challenge expected between Euz II Monella Viziata and the Spanish boats GAES Mundo Marino and Bribon Movistar was postponed.

Helmed by the talented Sandro Montefusco and with Markus Sigrist as tactician the Pugliese-Swiss team has dominated the World Championship until now, keeping at the top of the ranking list for two days. The distance from the rest of the fleet is reducing (in the first race there were 13 points and today just one) and now two very competitive Spanish boats are getting closer and closer. TGAES-Mundo Marino owned by Juan Carlos de Haro and helmed by one of the best Spanish skippers, the Olympic Champion Paco Sánchez, is in second place just one point behind Montefusco. Bribon Movistar, helmed by Marc de Antonio, follows in third position with just four points behind his compatriot.

Ranking list after six races and one discard:
