Phuket King's Cup - all good things come to an end

Four days of champagne sailing – with scenery and breeze to match – today wound down with one last race under thundery grey skies and 5 to 8 knots of shifty stuff from the northeast. Last evening a request from the Racing class resulted in the customary trapezoid course at the end of the programme being replaced with a windward-leeward race. Points were so tight at the top of the division that the King’s Cup was accessible to the top four boats in the class, and it was agreed that deciding the series with a race that involved reaching was Not a Good Thing.

There’s a full race report (and results) in another story (psssst… Quantum Racing beat the breeze, and Ray Roberts takes home the King’s Cup for the third time).

Meanwhile, here are some pics from a gloomy-looking day (that has turned, right now, into a downpour…)

Formerly known as Somtam Express, now Raimon Land The Heights, Scotty Duncanson and the boys followed up last year's Sportsboat title with a back-to-back win.
