'The fleet starts race 1 of the 2012 Mistral Championship'

An excellent weekend racing at Tamaki Yacht Club has just concluded for the 2012 Mistral Class Championship. The sun came out on both Saturday and Sunday and the wind was enough to add a little excitement. The Handicap prize was won by Rob Mason and Stephen Atkinson in 77, Mistarius and the non-Spinnaker prize was won by Stephen and Tasman Rowntree in 92. In the overall results placed third were Nick and Matthew Brewer in 47, forties Heaven; second Scott and Eleanor Blakey in 108, Rustler and the 2012 Champions (again!) were Andrew Stone and Mitchell Ford in 76, Windsong. Andrew and Mitchell won with a prefect scoreline, although they were pushed very hard by the rest of the fleet. The TYC fleet welcomed visitors from Kerikeri, Hamilton and Glendowie and all sailors commented how competitive the racing was and how friendly everyone was both on and off the water. Sailors and their families enjoyed a championship pizza dinner on the Saturday night.
