Paul Tingley represents the CST at Kiel Week

Whoah heads up! The Kieler Woche (Translation: Kiel Week) Regatta is well under way in scenic Kiel Germany. This 130 year old regatta is host to a week of city wide events, centered around the sailing.

There are over 2000 boats with fleets spread wide and far. Kite surfing, ORC, Swan 45’s and J-80’s are just selection of the handful of non-olympic boats that are racing in addition to the full Olympic spread.

Canada’s Paul Tingley is there as we speak, representing in the 2.4mR. He’s had a great week so far, kicking things off with a bullet and maintaining fifth over all. He’s races were scored – 1, 7, 11, DNF, 8, 8, 9, 3, 6, 3. Count em up... that’s right, 8 top ten finishes for Mr. Tingley as he maintains his reputation as one of the 2.4mR’s heavy hitters.

Kiel Week - Kiteboarding makes it's Sailing World Cup debut
Kiel Week - Kiteboarding made it's first appearance at an ISAF major event yesterday. Kieler-Woche hosted two Kiteboarding demonstrations in Kiel, Germany yesterday, Wednesday 20th June 2012. After Kiteboarding has been chosen as an event for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro at the ISAF mid-year meeting in Stresa, Italy, earlier this year, the new sailing discipline made it's first appearance during this final event of the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Kiel.

The Kiel Week medal race was once again the crowning highlight at the close of racing for the Olympic classes and again The Kiel Week medal race was once again the crowning highlight at the close of racing for the Olympic classes and again the final of the Lasers, with a live broadcast in front of the Audi Lounge, attracted the audience. Philipp Buhl (Sonthofen) took revenge for the previous year, finishing first in the last race and thus managed to slip in front of Simon Grotelueschen (Kiel) overall.

On the penultimate day of Kiel Week, a touch of summer with a thermal sea breeze was supposed to dominate the sailing On the penultimate day of Kiel Week, a touch of summer with a thermal sea breeze was supposed to dominate the sailing conditions in Kiel, but not much wind kicked in. Race director Jobst Richter had already announced an early start the previous day to be able to use each opportunity for some wind. But most participants got up early just to rest again and wait.

After just one race, head of the organizing committee, Jobst Richter (Kiel Yacht Club), had to stop the races at noon because of a small thunder cell with strong winds that was approaching the Kiel Fjord faster than predicted.

On the second day of Kieler Woche 2012, the German Olympic starters took the leading roles. On the second day of Kieler Woche, the German Olympic starters took the leading roles. Three German crews, who will represent Germany at the Olympics in England, took the lead in their respective classes. After a false start on Saturday, Laser sailor Franziska Goltz from Kiel is number one just as well as Laser colleague Simon Grotelueschen from Kiel

Kiel Week now in full swing
Kiel Week 2012 is now underway. The event started with good wind conditions, a bit of sunshine and some heavy showers Kiel Week 2012 is now underway. The event started with good wind conditions, a bit of sunshine and some heavy showers during the day with the races for the dinghies and big boats officially commencing. The traditional first race of the event was for the seagoing boats in front of the party mile and shoreline in Kiel.
