Owen Parker (1932-2008) - the professional racer

Owen Parker, who was Sir Edward Heath’s professional sailing master on several yachts owned and skippered by the former UK Prime Minister passed away on July 9 aged 76 after a long battle with cancer.

Etchells Worlds - Big breeze turns up uninvited for Day 4
Big breeze arrived today; fully powered up, punching through Solent chop upwind and pulling the trigger down wind Big breeze arrived at the 2016 Etchells World Championship today; fully powered up, punching through Solent chop upwind off Cowes, Isle of Wight, and hard sailing down wind, several teams experienced gear failure. The conditions were unexpected, 25 knots of solid breeze with squalls, sending the wind speed past 30 knots.

Etchells Worlds – Nitro takes a single win on Day 2
Noel 'Nitro' Drennan, has raced Etchells with Dennis Connor and John Bertrand, and his experience showed today There was some more Aussie cheer, on Day 2 of the Etchells World Championship. Noel 'Nitro' Drennan (AUS) started at the buoy end of the startline to win Race 3 by a handsome margin. Only one race was sailed today on the World Championship course set in the Solent, off Cowes, Isle of Wight, England. the world championship has attracted a fleet of 58 boats from 11 nations.
