The 2014 O'pen Bic World Cup opening ceremony took place yesterday evening at Travemunde, Germany.
The event is part of the famous 'Travemunde Regatta Week' which is in its 125th year.
Australia and New Zealand are represented with six competitors amongst a fleet of more than 130 from 11 nations.
Australian competitors are Kristen Wadley, Jack Challands, Travis Wadley and George Morton. New Zealand is represented by Sean and Liam Herbert.
Yesterday’s Practice races were abandoned due to strong winds and adverse sea conditions for launching off the beach.
Both the wind and sea conditions are expected to moderate for Wednesday’s start of racing with three fleets in each age division U13, U16 and U19.
